An ordinary college student, Lee Seol, finds out she’s a princess. The grandson of Daehan Group, Park Hae Young, is put in charge of educating Seol on proper etiquette.

Lee-Sul is a 25-year-old college student, majoring in Art History. She doesn’t think about the secrets surrounding her birth or her stepsister who teased her behind her back. Lee-Sul keeps a shabby appearance and works several part time jobs on top of her college career. She also has a crush on her professor Nam Jung-Woo (Ryu Su-Yeong). One day, Lee-Sul becomes a princess overnight. In order to make her a princess, the President of the Daehan Jonghap Group offers all of his assets. 50,000,000 people stamp their approvals for her and royal families from all over the world sends congratulatory telegrams. Lee-Sul accepts the role of Princess, but she is now locked up in her palace and forced to study from dawn to late at night. Even worse, Park Hae-Young is her only instructor and he is snooty.

Hae-Young (Song Seung-Heon) is a 31-year-old diplomat. He is the sole successor of the Daehan Jonghap Group (the largest conglomerate in Korea). Hae-Young is also handsome and graduated from an Ivy League school. Agreeing to his grandfather`s creed, Park Hae-Young decides to give up his rights to the company and all of his assets. This is all for a young woman named Lee-Sul.

Yoon-Joo (Park Ye-Jin) is a 30-year-old woman, who works as the director of Hae-Young Museum. Her father is the secretary for the President of the Daehan Jong Group. Yoon-Joo hopes to marry Park Hae-Young one day to gain control over the company. Her plans come to a halt when the Princess suddenly appears. For the Princess, the President of the Daehan Jonghap Group returns all of his property to the community. Even Hae-Youngs begins to have favorable feelings for Lee-Sul. Yoon-Joo can’t forgive Lee-Sul for what she has caused. Yoon-Jo then makes a plan and if it succeeds Korea will lose their imperial family.

Jung-Woo (Ryu Su-Yeong) is a professor, archeologist and holds a PH.D in the Arts. He is also popular among the female students. Jung-Woo grew up in a poor family. Even now with his high status, his financial situation isn’t so good. Because of this, Jung-Woo hasn’t proposed to his girlfriend Yoon-Joo. One day, something strange happens. Jung-Woo’s student Lee-Sul (who always submits papers late, but works hard at excavation sites) turns out to be a princess. Lee-Sul then asks Jung-Woo to become an advisor for the “Redemption Committee of Imperial Family Cultural Assets”.

Review

This drama was directed by the same person who did Pasta which I enjoyed so I was looking forward to My princess. The writer,Kim Eun-Sook was the same person who previously penned ‘Lovers in Paris’ (SBS, 2004) and ‘On Air. So it had a lot going for it unfortunately the rating did go quite low before it finished.

The storyline is very cliché. A poor girl finds out she is a princess and falls in love with a handsome man who she cannot have? Its one that you see in many Hollywood movies like Princess Diaries and Past drama’s like Princess Hours.  I am one of those kinds of people who likes these kinds of Romantic Modern Princess stories. They are timeless and most of them contain a charm of their own that makes them special.

My Princess was very light hearted and entertaining. I personally enjoyed it immensely. Many people have complained about the lack of chemistry, the same plot line and boring drama. I thought it was entertaining, the main leads had a lot of chemistry and the drama was interesting.  Kim Tae Hee and Song Seung Heon were adorable together and I cannot understand why people thought they had no chemistry. They were so cute together and so sweet it made the whole drama so romantic, I loved it! I think I could have just watched their scenes so many times without getting bored. Kim Tae Hee has this cute, fun and silly personality which is a bit like the style of Shin Min Ah from My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. Very quirky and she matched Song Seung Heons who is played by Park Hae Young ,sophisticated personality.  They were so good together I would not be surprised if they were together in real life. xP

The storyline was good enough for me. The whole drama came together quite well. It was very fun and not only concentrated on the leads romance but also the people around them, their relationship with their family, the palace and also politics. I loved it when people called Kim Tae Hee ( Lee Seol ) Mama. I suddenly found myself remembering all those Historical dramas. xD

The setting of the drama was beautiful. Her room was simply gorgeous and her closet was to die for. I love looking for the clothes she wore.  If you loved what she wore then make sure you check this site out!.  It will tell you where to get most of the cute things she wore. Those glitter shoes were to die for..

One thing I had a problem with is the less then amazing OST. There was nothing special about it. It seemed while they were concentrating on the drama they forget to insert better sounds.  They were good enough but I did want something better as I like listening to my soundtracks. Besides that sometimes the drama could drag a bit but it made up for it

I personally think this drama is worth watching. Its very cute and adorable.  A feel good drama which is guaranteed to make you feel good. The actors have talent and are not rookies or idols   and the drama has a very adorable storyline which will make you smile.  If you are having a bad day I think this drama is a good one to watch that saying I don’t recommend you watch this drama if you dislike dramas that are not unique in their storyline and are not serious.  I have to warn you that you will be disappointed if you are looking for a mature storyline because this is anything but that.

I enjoyed it a lot and it was much more better then any other dramas that  have come out this year personally. Watch it if you want to have carefree fun entertainment.
