Sameer says that though the film might sound serious, it will not bore the audience. “Rona aur ankh bhar ana do alag alag cheez hai (crying and your eyes welling up with tears are two different things). The audience will have tears in their eyes after watching the film,” says Sameer and adds, “I am playing this guy who is intelligent and renowned and wants his daughter to be successful. Then he comes face to face with a harsh reality — that his child is special. He wonders, ‘Why me?’ But then he also loves his child and wife, which makes him and Isha Koppikar (who plays his wife) try to resolve the problem.”
Sameer says anybody could face this kind of a situation. “You can connect easily with the character, but it’s not easy to essay the role. I have seen people going through similar problems but witnessing their problems as an outsider and facing it personally is not the same.”
The actor is all praise for his producer Manali Sawant and says that the intention was to make a good film; business was secondary. “When you do something from the heart, it will reach out to the audience,” adds Sameer.
The actor, who has worked both in Hindi and Marathi films and TV, has been choosy about his projects. He admits, “Time is a big issue when you are working in TV, but I make it a point to work in two films annually. I enjoy playing different characters and the language doesn’t matter to me. However, Marathi is my mother-tongue, so I can best express in it,” he says and smiles.
