وأكد أردوغان أمام الجموع الهادرة التى حضرت للمؤتمرأن القضية من وراء الاحتجاجات التي حدثت في مدينة اسطنبول وبعض المدن التركية، ليس الخشية على البيئة وإنما النيل من نمو تركيا الاقتصادي، حسب تصريحه.
دعا أردوغان الشعب الى عدم الانجرار وراء من يحاول أن يحيك المكائد لتركيا، وأكد أن كل من تطاول على المواطنات المحجبات وانتهك حرمة المساجد بالدخول إليها بالأحذية ومن نشر العنف والتخريب في شوارع تركيا على مدار 18 يوما، سيدفعون الثمن.
وعن إنجازات حكومته، أفاد أردوغان أن حكومته أنجزت مناقصة بناء أكبر مطار في العالم بكلفة 46 مليار دولار، وسددت الديون المستحقة لصالح صندوق النقد الدولي والتي بلغت 23 مليار دولار. وأشاد بتجربة حكومته في معالجة ملف الإرهاب في تركيا وإطلاقها لعملية السلام الاجتماعي.
وأبدى أردوغان استغرابه من محاولات بعض الجهات من وسائل الإعلام ولوبي الفائدة المصرفية، تأجيج الاحتجاجات التي حدثت في الفترة الأخيرة، مؤكدًا ان تلك الجهات اعتادت على الحكومات الضعيفة التي تخضع للابتزاز، والتي كانوا ينصبونها ويعزلوها حسب رغبتهم، وفق ما صرح به.
