드림하이 (Dream High)

Hot actors and really interesting storyline.

I can't tell you how much a fan I am of Korean dramas, more so of Korean dramas that showcase talents particularly in singing and dancing. It's ironic that I'm not a K-Pop fan, though.  I only know more about K-Pop singers through the Korean dramas I watch and through my few K-Pop fan friends.

There is so much I could tell you about the drama but I don't wanna spoil it. So I'll just go and make some lists. But first, short background for the main characters.

Go Hye Mi (Suzy, Miss A)

Hye Mi was from a rich family, pursuing vocal training in opera. However, his father's bankrupt business led her to follow a loan shark, Ma Du Sik, and audition at Kirin High School, where pop stars are born. She doesn't show emotions and thinks highly of herself. Hye Mi, along with Sam Dong and Jin Guk, was chosen by the Director to enter Kirin.

Yoon Baek Hee (Ham Eun Jung)

Hye Mi's best friend turned rival. At first, she's the sweet girl following Hye Mi around. But after their audition together, Baek Hee finds out that Hye Mi doesn't value their friendship as much as she values it and Hye Mi thinks of her as a third rate singer. From then on, Baek Hee does her best to be the best. However, the pressure gets to her, making her do really bad things.

Jin Guk/Hyun Shi Hyuk (Taecyeon, 2PM)

Jin Guk is a government official's son outside of marriage which he tries to hide for the good of his campaign.  As he struggles in his relationship with his father, he struggles in pursuing his dream and at the same time, keeping his identity on a low profile for his father. However, his father tries to send him off abroad to study.  He decided to debut along with Baek Hee, Jason and others and leaves Hye Mi and Sam Dong, in order not to get sent away. 

Song Sam Dong (Kim Soo Hyun)

Sam Dong has an ear for music. Even though he only went to Seoul to follow Hye Mi and her false attraction to him, he does everything to protect her and at the same time, succeed in Kirin. His feelings for Hye Mi never falters. However, he goes through a very dark time when a health condition hinders him from pursuing his dreams.

Kim Pil Suk (IU)

Ms. Sushi, Pil Suk, enters Kirin as a really big lady with a beautiful voice. She is very much attracted to Jason which motivates her to exercise and become slimmer.

Before her transformation, I really thought Pil Suk was pretty the way she was. When she became thinner, at first, I didn't like her. But she's so cute and I just love her voice!

Jason (Wooyoung, 2PM)

The guy version of snobby Hye Mi. He's the guy who has a lot of manners though, unlike Hye Mi. This, however, leads Pil Suk to misunderstand his actions.

What to look forward to in the drama:

1. I love Pil Suk and Jason love team! I always look forward to their scenes together more than the love triangle going on with Hye Mi, Sam Dong and Si Hyuk.

2. As always, I love the songs! It makes me want to learn how to speak Korean just so I could sing along.

3. The twist in Sam Dong's story. It's perfect and I don't know any other drama like this that pursued such storyline.

4. I really like Kyung Jin! Especially when she baby talks. So cute! And Jin Man, everytime I see his face, I can't help but laugh haha as for Oh Hyuk... I found him very appealing when he showed up to save Hye Mi.

5. Jin Guk's trick. Very helpful for someone like me who hates being alone in crowded places hihi

However, I was really disappointed with how the love triangle ended. Even though Hye Mi and Sam Dong went through more hardships together and looked really good together, in their Japan trip, you'd think it's Hye Mi and Si Hyuk already. Sadly no :(

Favorite episode: Dream High episode 10 - Japan trip

A lot of things happen in this episode: broken friendships start to mend, love stories develop even further, misunderstandings cleared up and meaningful lesson learned.
