Ulka Gupta out of Mayawati...............
So when Dehradun-based entrepreneur-turned-film producer Yograj Saini set out to do just that, ie make a story which he says was "inspired" byMayawati, everyone sat up to take notice. And among the eclectic starcast that included Shakti Kapoor and Manisha Koirala the name of teen sensation Ulka Gupta, better known as the youngerJhansi Ki Rani in the serial by the same name, figured too.
But now, as it turns out, she may not be a part of the film. Her father Gagan Gupta says that they have opted out of the film, owing largely to the fact that there was a great deal of ambiguity from the producer's side ever since the film was announced.
Earlier it had been reported that even though Ulka was declared to be a part of the film, her father had alleged that they were yet to see a copy of the contract. "And even then, the producer had gone ahead and announced dates for shooting without taking our consent," says Gupta sr, as he goes on to add, "and now though Yograj has been in touch with us for several projects including a music video which Ulka refused ultimately, he has not said anything about recommencing the shooting. So, we have decided that we are simply not interested in anything like this."
To which a rather excited Ulka adds, "I myself was very excited to be playing the younger Mayawati. I am quite impressed by all that she has gone on to achieve, looking back at her circumstances. But it's not happening as of now."
Instead, Ulka is reappearing in the serial "Jhansi Ki Rani" in the role of a tribal girl, before the show ends in June this year.
