Kasamh Se - a love story getting more lovable!

Kasamh Se - a love story getting more lovable!

If you are a sucker for love stories of the Mills & Boon variety, then Kasamh Se is the show for you. I, for one can't resist the show myself...it's got the perfect mix - the damsel in distress ready to sacrifice her life for the ones she loves and the betrayed man whose bleeding heart is taught how to love again!
I agree that the show is for the mushy, hopelessly romantic types...but who doesn't love a bittersweet love story???
Ram Kapoor plays the part of the arrogant egoist who thinks that the world starts and ends with his broken heart - he's the perfect catalyst in a story that revolves around intense human emotions. Prachi is good (though not great) as the ever suffering sister and frankly, I would love it if she takes up cudgels against Rakshanda Khan - there's nothing like watching a woman strike down the 'other woman' in her hubby's life!
Suddenly, there is a powerful negative character emerging in Pia's pouting disregard of her in laws and contrary to what I had said earlier (in the first-take), the girl has evolved into quite an actor. She plays the spoilt brat to the hilt and her blatant refusal to adjust to the dictums of her husband's household is something that every newly married will identify with. Pushkar's character has been subdued quite a bit - he now walks the tightrope between his parents and his wife. His role needs to evolve much more to show some strength of character.
Perhaps the best part of the show is that it tells two love stories - so different from one another, yet so similar! While Pia and Pushkar started off being in love and experiencing roadblocks along the way, Bani and Jay are still fighting to find their love. While one is well on its way, the other's still going through the motions. But the best part is that it manages to strike a balance and doesn't go overboard with any of them. The picturisation and the sound effects used on the show adds to the drama and frankly the songs help not only to create the mood but also to sustain it throughout the episode.
Although most of the characters seem to be getting their due footage on the show, one character seems to be getting the step motherly treatment - Arunima aka Rano, who just acts as the chorus in a show that's full of powerhouose performers. Neither has the character grown nor has it given Arunima any scope to showcase her histrionic skills - either the creative head is holding her back because she's too good, or she's just too bad that she needs private lessons before her character can be given more screen time!
In Kasamh Se.., Zee has finally got a primetime winner that can sustain and even surpass the success of shows like Saat Phere and Sinndoor. It's got a story that appeals to all deomographies and if it continues to strike the much needed balance between drama and melodrama, it can be a major TRP grosser for the channel in coming years!
