Actress Prachi Desai is miffed with mentor Ekta Kapoor for leaving her out in the cold, buzz is that Prachi has been giving Ekta the cold shoulder these days. |
From getting pedicures and going on shopping sprees together, Prachi Desai and Ekta Kapoor have now gone to hating each other. Rumor has it that the best friends are not on talking terms, apparently Prachi is upset with Ekta for not casting her in any of her upcoming home productions.
Prachi, who was a regular at all of Ekta's parties, has off late been missing from Ekta's bashes and that has set tongues wagging in the industry. A leading film based tabloid in India reports: "The last time Prachi was seen with Ekta was in March, at Ekta's Film and TV award ceremony. Since then she has not been seen at any of Ekta's events, so everybody is talking about it.
Recently she skipped Ekta's triple celebratory party and it was evident that there is a problem between them."
Prachi was discovered by Ekta when she was only 17-years-old. Ekta cast Prachi to play the lead in her super hit TV show Kasam Se, on Zee TV. The show made Prachi a household name and upon Ekta's reference Prachi was cast in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikh La Ja, the Indian version of Dancing with the stars.
While on the show, Prachi had her share of controversy when she was booted out of the show, due to lack of votes. Weeks later, Prachi was brought back on the show as a wild card entry and went on to eventually win. Tabloids had then accussed Ekta of rigging the votes in Prachi's favor. Later, on Ekta's insistence, Prachi began trying her luck in films debuting with Farhan Akhtar in 2008's Rock On. In 2010, Ekta cast Prachi in her home-production Once Upon a Time in Mumbai - the film was a super hit and Prachi had finally entered the big league.
Meanwhile, Ekta has also branched successfully from producing TV serials to producing mainstream films. Her latest two releases Ragini MMS and Shor In the City have won rave reviews and made a profit at the box office. Ekta has also announced two big budget films - The Dirty Picture and a sequel to her 2010 hit Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, both films don't have Prachi playing the lead and looks like that is the cause of Prachi's ire.
If these two friends don't sort out their differences soon, its just another sign that the world is coming to an end.
