fantasy costume drama ‘CHANDRAKANTA’ had created history. The biggest
grosser for Doordarshan, Sunil Agnihotri directed Chandrakanta had
carved another level of success for this genre of storytelling on
television. From children to adults, 9 AM Sunday was reserved for this
adventure and an overload of magical twists & turns. “I am taking
the story ahead with generation leap. Children of Chandrakanta will be
shown but the magical aura will remain.”

Now Sunil Agnihotri, in his fantasy
drama ‘KAHANI CHANDRAKANTA KI,’ inspired by Babu Devki Nandan Khatri’s
CHANDRAKANTA SANTITI, is once again bringing back to life those super
successful characters of princess Chandrakanta, Kroor Singh, Pundit
Jagannath, Badrinath etc under the banner of Sunil Agnihotri Production.
In this series too Chandrakanta is played by Shikha Swaroop. Vindu Dara
Singh is playing the character of Abhimanyu while Pundit Jagannath is
portrayed by Rajendra Gupta. Puneet Issar will be seen in the character
of Shiv Dutt, Mamik as Badrinath, Kruttika Desai will be Naintara, Rupa
Ganguly as Roopmati, Raja Chaudhary will be seen as Tej Singh,
Nishigangha Wad plays Kalavati, Santosh Shukla as Virendra Singh, Sonia
Rakkar as Padmini, Vinod Kapoor as Chandi and Shailendra Singh plays
Kroor Singh. Many more artistes will join this biggest fantasy of 2011.

Agnihotri, “Chandrakanta, in itself, is a huge product. No other serial
could match its popularity or success. In any case costume Dramas-
whether Historical, Mythological or Fantasies- have always been close to
my heart. Their canvas is BIG and creating an aura around a different
time zone is so very interesting. After a long break, once again we are
bringing the similar thrill, shape shifting aiyyars & magic of
tilism back at a higher level with more and better special effects
through my favourite subject.” Shooting of ‘KAHANI CHANDRAKANTA KI,’
with the generation leap has begun at actual locations and it is
scheduled for March 2011 telecast on Sahara One.
Besides Chandrakanta, Sunil is
bringing two more serials on Sahara One of different genre within the
first half of 2011. Laut Aayi Noori, an action packed Emotional love
story, is next to go on floor. It will be shot in Manali for its
breathtaking locations and will take the viewers back into another
decade. “In any case, I always prefer to shoot at actual outdoor
locations instead of trying to create fake sets in Mumbai. Sets can
never infuse the exhilarating life shot into the visual like the actual
locations. Laut Aayi Noori will transport the viewers to actual
Himalyans.”

had begun his journey on Televisions from serial Chandrakanta which was
telecast on DD-1. It took serial making to another level of class and
grandeur. Sunil, who is associated with mega serial and success on
television, had made history in the afternoons with serial Yug. His
Betaal Pachisi gave tough competition to Krishna, where TRP’s favoured
fantasy more than the Gods. Then his mythological Jai Ganesha on Zee was
a treat to watch as far as Mythologies are concerned. His another
fantasy serial Chandramukhi reigned at top position on DD1. Like his
earlier mega opus Chandrakanta, this was also a complete costume drama.
BLACK was on Paranormal activities, Aliens & extra-terrestrial and
was made on an international canvas.
