Stars at Zee Rishtey Awards 2011

Mumbai: A procession of TV stars led by an elephant, an aerial act and some colourful, energetic performances left the audience in awe at the Zee Rishtey Awards here.

The Andheri Sports Complex Saturday night was full of TV buffs, who came dressed in best of their fineries to watch their favourite small screen stars live. Check out 23 more images after the jump.

Hiten Tejwani, Ankita Lokhande, Rubina Dilaik, Jai Bhanushali, Mahii Vij, Alok Nath, Aruna Irani, Ketaki Dave and Vibha Chhibber, among other actors from the channel`s popular shows "Pavitra Rishta", "Choti Bahu", "Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli", "Ram Milayee Jodi", "Mrs.Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuyien", "Hitler Didi" and "Shobha Somnath Ki" were present at the event.

A one minute silence was observed by everyone in remembrance of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

The show was also attended by Urmila Matondkar, Shiney Ahuja, Sayali Bhagat and singer Bappi Lahiri, who enthralled the audience with a stanza of his latest chartbuster "Ooh la la" from "The Dirty Picture".

Enfance

Amel Bent 21 juin 1985 (27 ans) est née en France d'une mère marocaine et d'un père algérien⁵, elle grandit à La Courneuve⁶. Adolescente, elle se destine au métier de psychologue^5,7, tout en étant passionnée de musique. Ainsi, dès l'âge de 16 ans, elle saisit l'occasion de chanter La Marseillaise dans un stade près de chez elle devant trois mille personnes⁸.

Carrière de chanteuse

Nouvelle Star

Elle souhaite ensuite entrer en faculté de psychologie après sa participation à l'émission Nouvelle Star en 2004 dans laquelle elle finit troisième, malgré une jambe cassée et un plâtre qui la contraint à chanter sur un canapé. Cette occasion lui permet d'entrer ainsi dans le milieu musical du RnB. Cependant et malgré le fait qu'elle ait perdu, elle est sollicitée par des producteurs.

2004 : Un jour d'été

Elle enregistre alors l'album Un jour d'été qui sort le 30 novembre 2004. Le premier single tiré de cet album, Ma philosophie (co-écrit avec la rappeuse Diam's), entre directement numéro 1 des classements⁹. Le titre est nominé lors des Victoires de la musique 2006 dans la catégorie « Chanson originale de l'année »¹⁰. L'album, comprenant également les titres Le Droit à l'erreur et Ne retiens pas tes larmes, est certifié disque de platine et s'est vendu à 650 000 exemplaires⁹.

En 2006, Amel Bent interprète Eye of the Tiger, reprise du groupe Survivor (bande originale du film Rocky 3, l'œil du tigre sorti en 1982), pour la BO d'Astérix et les Vikings.

2007 : À 20 ans

En 2007, elle sort l'album À 20 ans, avec comme premier single Nouveau Français, chanson qui a suscité des polémiques en raison de la campagne pour l'élection présidentielle française. Suivront ensuite les singles À 20 ans et Tu n'es plus là. Pascal Obispo et Charles Aznavour ont notamment participé à cet album. Cet album se vend à plus de 200 000 exemplaires¹¹, et elle entame une tournée qui se révélera un succès¹¹ : elle doit alors programmer une seconde date parisienne au Bataclan, puis une troisième date à La Cigale.

En 2008, Amel enregistre Vivre ma vie, version française de la chanson Walk away, pour la bande originale du film High School Musical 3.

2009 : Où je vais

En 2009, Amel Bent est de retour avec un nouveau single : Où je vais et un album éponyme. Le second single est la chanson Le mal de toi produit par Gee Futuristic et X-Plosive de l'Allemagne. Le 4 mai 2010, Amel Bent a donné un concert à L'Olympia à Paris. Elle clôturera sa tournée française le 18 décembre 2010 au Zénith de Paris, date qui affiche complet.

Cet album sera un franc succès, puisqu'il se vendra à plus de 175 000 exemplaires.

2011 : Délit mineur

C'est par le biais de son compte Twitter qu'Amel Bent annonce la sortie de son album pour le 28 novembre 2011, et qui a pour titre Délit mineur. En octobre, un premier single, Je reste, écrit par Benoît Poher, ancien membre du groupe Kyo, est diffusé. Cet album se vend à plus de 50 000 exemplaires au terme de son exploitation . Elle est également nominée aux NRJ Music Awards dans la catégorie Artiste féminine francophone de l'année.

2013 : Cinquième Album

Amel Bent est en préparation de son cinquième album, dont elle a tourné le premier clip fin septembre. Le clip de son nouveau single Ma Chance est lancé le 20 octobre 2012.

Amel Bent a préparé plusieurs titres de son cinquième opus à Los Angeles, la sortie de l'album est fixée au mois de Septembre 2013.

Dès novembre 2013, Amel Bent débutera une tournée à travers la France avec notamment l'Olympia à Paris le 16 novembre 2013.

Télévision

Fin 2009, elle est la coach d'une chorale pour une émission de TF1 intitulée La bataille des chorales aux côtés de Patrick Fiori et Passi.

Durant la fin de l'année 2010, Amel Bent est la marraine de l'émission Disney Channel Talents diffusé sur Disney Channel France qui a pour thème High School Musical.

En 2011, elle fait ses premiers pas d'actrice à la télévision, en jouant le rôle d'une méchante prénommée Amale dans le téléfilm Affaires étrangères : Maroc, diffusé le 24 février 2011.

Fin 2011, elle prête sa voix pour le film d'animation Happy Feet 2.

Du 6 octobre au 1^er décembre 2012, Amel Bent fait partie des candidats de la saison 3 de l'émission Danse avec les stars sur TF1, aux côtés du danseur Christophe Licata. Elle arrive en finale de l'émission et termine 2^e de la compétition, derrière Emmanuel Moire. Le 22 décembre 2012, elle participe, le temps d'une soirée, à l'émission spéciale « Danse avec les stars » fête Noël, et c'est elle qui remporte la compétition, face à Sofia Essaïdi et Matt Pokora.

Quelque jours après la sortie de son clip Délit, la chanteuse a participé à un épisode de la série Soda et Scènes de ménages.

En 2012, Amel Bent prête sa voix au film d'animation Clochette et le Secret des fées, avec la chanteuse Lorie.

Elle intègre le groupe Génération Goldman, avec M. Pokora, Tal, Shy'm, etc.

En 2013, elle intègre la troupe de "Ce soir on chante" aux côtés de M. Pokora, Emmanuel Moire et Shy'm notamment. "Ce soir on chante" est une émission présentée par Estelle Denis. Lors de la première émission hommage à Jean-Jacques Goldman, elle reprend le titre Comme toi.

Association

Elle devient le 25 mai 2011 marraine de l'association Huntington Avenir (avec Joël Bats) — œuvrant auprès des malade atteints de chorée de Huntington —, à la manifestation Foot-Concert de laquelle elle participait depuis 2007.

Amel Bent devient la marraine d'Always UNESCO, un programme éducatif pour permettre aux femmes sénégalaises illettrées d'apprendre à lire.

IN SEARCH OF THE REAL-LIFE OTHER Reena Kapoor as Rani in SaharaOne's "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki".

With a well-known brand like Rajashri Productions opening account on SaharaOne with its tele- soap, "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki" just a few months ago, the channel seems quite upbeat. Arguably, no other serial on SaharaOne has seen so much promotional activities as "Woh Rehne Waali... " And just a few weeks back, it started a viewers' contest too.

Named `Real Life Rani Contest', it is an attempt to "find" the real life counterpart of the serial's protagonist Rani played by Reena Kapoor. According to the storyline, Rani, born with a silver spoon, had to fight life's harsh realities as material comforts leave her side one day.

Says the channel's Chief Operating Officer Purnendu Bose, "There are many such Ranis in our society. We want to bring to light the stories of such people through this contest. We want to search such women who have transformed from delicate daughters to women of strength. This is also to tell our viewers that the serial's story is true to many people."

All one needs to do is dash off a one-page e-mail (contest@tv.sahara-one.com) or a post card to the channel's Lower Parel office writing about why the contestant feels she is a Rani.

"The prize is a chance to meet the reel-life Rani. Also, there is a special surprise which we would not like to disclose now," adds Bose.

Besides the serial's promotional activities, Bose feels, "it is getting a good response also because it has a convincing story convincingly told."

He is happy that its TRPs are on an ascent now. "We have beaten Sony TV and Zee TV in the 9 p.m. slot on week days now because of `Woh Rehne Waali... ' In the week ending July 2, the show delivered sustained TVRs across four weekday nights hitting a high of 2.3 TVRs on Wednesday night."

Female support

And the serial, he adds, is particularly popular among women between the age group of 25 and 34.

"Among this age group, it recorded average TVRs of 2.92 for the entire week ahead of Sony TV's 2.88 and Zee TV's 1.56," he says.

"This shows that in this era of saas-bahu sagas, our different content has been welcomed by the viewers. A lot of credit goes to Rajashri Productions too," adds Bose.

But Sir, Star Plus with its saas and bahu brigade is still way ahead of all entertainment channels.

This family entertainer instantly clicked with the audience because of the emotional appeal and the true picture that it depicted of the Indian society and its women-folk. The show was in fact very close to the hearts of the small screen audiences and such shows are in great demand by the television viewers who value sentiments to an extreme level. His three year association with Balaji bagged him lead role in Kasturi. Karan Patel participated with good friend Amita Chandekar in Nach Baliye-3. As per the format of the show Nach Baliye features only real-life couples. After the show Karan went on record to say that Amita and he were never a couple. Though he has moved on to do yet another reality show (Kaho Na Yaar Hai) but this time as a host, his past still catches up with him. To set the record straight we caught up with man under the scanner. Excerpts from the interview. What made you say yes to the show Kaho Na Yaar Hai? What is the concept of the show? I always wanted to anchor a show. So when the channel came up with Kaho Na Yaar Hai I agreed immediately. It is a game based chat show with celebrities. There is going to be lots of fun on the show. We would be cracking jokes and having fun on the show. Your critics basically think that you may not be the right choice for this show. Comment. I do not think you should be judgmental about somebody even before the show has started. But then everybody has a right to an opinion and so the critics are free to make any comment. It hardly matters to me. Also if I was not suitable for the show the channel and the production house would have never opted for me in the first place. What made the channel opt for you as the host of the show? It has to be my outgoing nature, my comfort with people around. The most important trait of a host is to make the guest comfortable and I can make anyone and everyone around me feel at ease. You recently said that you want to be the next Shahrukh Khan. Do you see yourself as a superstar in the making? I don�t know. I would let the audience and critics decide and comment on that. What are your Bollywood aspirations? Oh of course I am looking at the bigger picture. Things are in the pipeline. I am not in a haste to do things. I am just taking life as it comes. I don�t want to take up too many things at one go. Talking about Nach Baliye-3 which couple were you closest to? Vikas Seth and his wife Amita. What do you have to say about the results? The result was fair. Can you elaborate on your relationship with Amita and put the rumours to rest once and for all? We were just good friends and nothing more. To clear the air we were never dating each other. We were never a couple and will never be a couple. That is about me and Amita so far. How did you meet her? We met through common friends. Was being a real life couple not mandatory? I don�t know. I just participated. I actually don�t want to comment on this issue. But she was never your baliye? See I am over and done with Nach Baliye. Let�s just put it this way. Would you like to take up something like Bigg Boss? No, definitely not. I just don�t like the concept of the show. Sotey, Jaagtey, Khatey, Peetey camera tumhare sir pe rehta hai (The camera focuses on you 24X7). Which are the serials you are working in? I am just doing Kasturi on Star Plus and now Kaho Na Yaar Hai. Have you signed any movies? None so far.
