MDO- Me huele a soledad 2014

MDO first began in 1997 by Edgardo Diaz who had come up with the idea of Menudo, a group that would forever remain young.  Up until 1997, the year that they would finally become MDO, each member of Menudo could only stay with the group until they turned 16 yrs. old.  Once they hit this age, they were forced to leave the group.  Because the members continued to change for two decades, the group finally decided to change their name in 1997.  This was the beginning of the Latin Pop group MDO.  The group wanted a new image...a new look.  They represented something new, something different from Menudo.  And, well, this group was not the same Menudo we all once knew...some of the members by this time had even passed the age of 16.  Right now there are members as old as 23. And after all is said and done, the group abbreviated their name to...MDO!
With the name change from Menudo to MDO came much popularity in Latin America, and especially in Puerto Rico.  In 1997, they recorded their first self-titled album as MDO. The members at this time were former Menudo members, Abel Talamantez, Didier Hernandez, Alexis Grullon, and Anthony Galindo, as well as newcomer, Daniel Weider.  With their first single "No Puedo Olvidarme de Ti," interpreted by Daniel, MDO went straight up the charts.
However, in 1998, Danny decided to leave MDO to pursue other musical interests.  This left MDO in search of a new member.  But after alot of searching, MDO decided to release their 2nd album with only 4 members, Abel, Alex, Anthony and Didier.  MDO's 2nd album, Un Poco Mas, was released in 1999 and contained the group's first English song, "Groove With Me Tonight."  This second album brought them to the bilingual market with this Spansligh Remix of "Dame Un Poco Mas," or "Groove With Me Tonight."  However, once again, before MDO could release yet another album, the group suffered from another departure.  After many long years in Menudo, as well as MDO, Anthony Galindo took his exit from the group to concentrate on his family.  The group then had to begin yet another search for a new member.  Once this search had ended the group had 2 new members, bringing MDO back to 5 members in the group; Abel Talamantez, Alexis Grullon, Didier Hernandez, Pablo Portillo and Troy Tuminelli.
So, finally, MDO was able to release their long-awaited 3rd album in October 2000 entitled Subir al Cielo.  Their first single, "Te Quise Olvidar," took them to #1 in many countries.  It became one of the greatest hits MDO had ever had.  Unfortunately this stream of good luck only lasted so long for the group, for soon another member was about to leave.  In 2001, Troy Tuminelli left MDO.  The group was then down to 4 members  and once again was left in search of another member.  After a couple months of auditions, Caleb Aviles was finally chosen as the new member of MDO.
The group performed for just a short few months with these five members when their long-time member, Alex Grullon, decided to leave the group.  In the summer of 2001, Alex announced his departure from MDO, which left the group once again with only 4 members.  The group remained like this until problems began to occur.  Caleb began to have contractual problems with his previous group and was forced to temporarily remove himself from MDO.  So, MDO, who was left with only 3 members, needed to begin a search for another member for the fourth time since 1998.  By the end of this search, MDO finally decided to bring back former member Anthony Galindo.  However, at this time, Pablo Portillo began to have visa problems and was also forced to take a break from performing with the group.  Anthony only performed with MDO for a few months, while both Caleb and Pablo had temporary leaves from the group, before taking yet another leave from the group.
Once Caleb and Pablo returned to the group, MDO consisted of Abel Talamantez, Pablo Portillo, Didier Hernandez and Caleb Aviles.   Together, MDO they released their first major English album entitled "Little Piece of Heaven" in Asia in June 2001.  This album was to be due out in the United States at a later date, but it never came to be and MDO began working on a new album.  Unfortunately, before the CD was complete, Caleb decided to leave MDO to pursue other musical interests.  So, MDO bid farewell to yet another member and began their search for another one.  Then in 2002, MDO fans were shocked to find out who the group had chosen as their new member.  Anthony Galindo rejoined the group, for his third time and is currently in MDO indefinitely.
After 5 years as MDO, Abel, Anthony, Didier, and Pablo decided to release an album containing all of their greatest hits.  This album, MDO Hits, was released on April 2nd, 2002.  It contains MDO's hits as well as two new singles, "Me Huele a Soledad" and "Ayudame a Olvidar."  The single, "Me Huele a Soledad," took MDO up the charts and up to #1!
However, after much success, MDO has decided to end their legacy.  After many years of hard work and dedication, Abel, Anthony, Didier and Pablo will be the final members of this era of MDO.  After all of the success that they have accomplished, MDO may be gone from the current music scene, but they will never be forgotten.
